Boyd’s androgynous beauty and warm demeanor sets him apart from other testosterone-drunk rock artists. He is the founder of a non-profit organization named ‘The Make Yourself Foundation,’ which aims at raising money for various philanthropic causes. More recently, Boyd has begun focusing on fine arts, mainly painting. After the limited success of the band’s initial albums ‘Enjoy Incubus’ and ‘S.C.I.E.N.C.E,’ Boyd was able to lead his band through later commercial successes such as ‘Make Yourself,’ ‘Morning View,’ ‘A Crow Left of the Murder,’ and ‘Monuments and Melodies.’ Boyd is the author of two books that mostly consist of his experiences as an artist. As a visual artist, Boyd designed some of the early concert flyers for ‘Incubus.’ He is also known for introducing some interesting instruments, such as the didgeridoo and the djembe, to his songs.
